Ann Curry
Ann Curry was born in America and is a photographer and journalist. Over the past forty-five years she has focused on documenting human suffering, especially during war and natural catastrophes. Curry reported on conflicts within Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19th, 1956 in Agana American journalist, television anchor and news reporter who was most well-known for her work as a reporter on the Today show, a news morning show that was telecast by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry's reporting was notable for her reporting on humanitarian crisis that occurred in war-torn countries as well as natural disasters. Curry has a father who was an U.S. Navy sailor and the daughter of a Japanese woman. Her mother was living with her father in Japan after World War II. Because of her father's military service the family moved often. Curry completed her high school at Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 at in the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Her exposure to different cultures and the experiences she had during her growing up likely influenced her empathetic approach to communicating about issues of international significance. Curry moved around a lot with her partner but she did not attend an institution for more than two or three years. She went to schools located in San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. Her broadcasting career began as an internship with KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. At age 22, she eventually became the first journalist female at that station. After that, she moved on to become an anchor and reporter for KGW, which is an NBC affiliate station located in Portland. Then she returned in Los Angeles four years later working as a journalist at KCBS TV. In her time with the channel she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
